The current building, the Clarion Hotel, constructed in phases from 1958 to 1963 will be demolished to make way for the Pacifica Senior Art Community. The community consists of four stories over a basement, 11,000 SF of commercial space, a community art center, and two courtyards.
The exterior building design was inspired by Dutch painter, Piet Mondrian. The abstract vertical and horizontal patterns on the facade create a cheerful and inviting atmosphere. Materials including brick, concrete, stucco, wood plank siding, and zinc shingles come together to create a chic and timeless appearance.
Other features include a library, computer lab, fitness center, beauty salon, spa, and two outdoor courtyards. The community arts center, which will primarily be used by the residents, will also be shared with the neighborhood association and community organizations.
