This project will expand the current hospital campus of Las Encinas to include senior housing to better serve the community's population. The new housing will include independent living, assisted living, and memory care units.
The building takes its design inspiration from the materiality, scale, and massing of the other buildings on the Las Encinas campus. It features deep roof overhangs that block the strong southern sunlight during the summer months when the sun is higher and allow it to filter through in the winter months when the sun is at a lower angle.
On the second floor, there is an indoor/outdoor dining space with a central fireplace. Other features include a fitness and therapy gym with an outdoor pool, a movie theater, a bistro, a day spa, a salon, and an art studio. Also, the country kitchen in the memory care wing provides a homelike atmosphere.
